Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations have arrested four suspects accused of swindling their victims through online dating sites.

In a statement on Monday morning, the ODPP announced the arrest of Bernard Mbunga, Fredrick Mutiso Mutua, Catherine Mumbi Kivuva and Kelvin Nzioki.

According to the DCI, the suspects have been luring unsuspecting victims through online dating sites to their dens before torturing and extorting money from them.

Extortion of Victim

"Acting on intelligence @DCI_Kenya Lang'ata Detectives who have been pursuing the case raided a house within Ruaka, only to find a Turkish national being subjected to torture by two men," the DCI stated.

Sleuths believe the victim was lured by Catherine Mumbi Kivuva to the house where he was extorted while another suspect Kelvin Nzioki was withdrawing money from a bank with his ATM cards.

"Kelvin Nzioki was arrested at the Ruaka  Cooperative Bank ATM booth, having the victim's ATM cards and pins ready for transactions, besides having obtained some cash through the victim's Mpesa," the statement read.
