Lawrence Warunge, the murder suspect who confessed to killing his parents, 12-year old brother, his cousin & their farmhand in January, has been confirmed fit to stand trial.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Warunge will now appear at the Kiambu High Court and plead to murder charges on Wednesday. 

"This follows a psychiatric report released by Mathari Mental Hospital, confirming that the 22-year-old can now answer to his crimes. Warunge who told homicide detectives that he was inspired by a movie series ‘Killing Eve’ to end the lives of the five, will plead to murder charges tomorrow, at the Kiambu high court," part of the tweet by DCI read. 

On January 26, mental results presented to the court by a psychiatrist revealed that Warunge was unfit for trial at the time. 

Kiambu Murders 

Warunge hacked to death his father Nicholas Njoroge Warunge, his mother Ann Wanjiku, their adopted nephew Maxwell Njenga, his brother Christian Njenga Njoroge and farmhand James Kinyajui Wambaa.

An autopsy conducted on the bodies of all five victims released on January 11, confirmed Warunge's confession on killing the victims.

Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor in the autopsy report revealed that all five victims had succumbed to multiple stab wounds highly inflicted by the same person.
