The Obama family is seeking donations from the public to bring the body of their kin, Keziah Aoko Obama, to Kenya from London, UK.

A card that was seeking financial help was shared on social media.

“We are bringing Mama Keziah home to rest with us. [We] are grateful for donations. [Send your contributions via] M-Pesa to the contact 0726634050,” it read.

The family is also seeking help from the government after the travel restrictions that were issued by both the UK and Kenya governments.

Family Mourns

Keziah’s children, Malik and Auma, wrote to the Foreign Affairs ministry seeking special permits to allow the transportation of their kin’s body.

Keziah’s death comes a few weeks after the Obama family lost its matriarch Mama Sarah Obama.

Mama Sarah Obama died on March 29, 2021, while receiving treatment at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital in Kisumu County.

She was laid to rest a day later at her Kogelo home. While mourning his grandmother, President Barack Obama termer her as a key pillar to the Obama family and her community.

“My family and I are mourning the loss of our beloved grandmother, Sarah Ogwel Onyango Obama, affectionately known to many as “Mama Sarah” but known to us as “Dani” or Granny… We will miss her dearly, but celebrate with gratitude her long and remarkable life,” Obama’s statement read in part.
