Five counties are in darkness after a fire broke out at the Sub-Station, according to Kenya Power.

In a statement issued on Saturday, April 17 2021, Kenya Power said Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Tana River and Lamu counties are experiencing a blackout after a fire broke out at the Rabai Sub-Station.

“The fire has since been contained and our engineers are on-site to assess the extent of damage and restore normal electricity supply as soon as possible,” Kenya Power statement read.

"Work on the restoration of power to this region is ongoing. We apologise for the current situation."
