Ex-Tahidi High actor Dennis Mugo alias "OJ" has announced he is joining politics.

Former Tahidi High actor Dennis Mugo popularly known as OJ has announced his entry into politics.

Speaking to a local daily on April 17, the actor stated that he had contemplated joining politics for a while.

"I have always had been thinking about joining politics and it is for time to step up and make a change for my people.

"My main focus is the youth, the issues that affect them, and their empowerment," Mugo stated.


The aspiring Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Ruguru Ngandori Ward assured to address issues of mental health, depression, drawing lessons from his struggle with alcoholism.

Mugo pointed at United Democratic Alliance (UDA)'s agenda as the reason for joining the party. 

"The hustler narrative, which is about the uplifting of the common mwananchi is why I joined the party. The empowerment of youth is what I want to accomplish,"  he said.

He stated that Deputy President William Ruto is an inspiration to youth in the country, the reason for joining UDA.

Mugo highlighted the establishment of Information Communication Technology Centres in the ward as key. He stated that youth would gain training and access information easily.

He currently teaches youth about film at the county.

He pointed an accusing finger at incumbent MCA Michael Kariuki Munyi for ignoring health issues affecting people in the ward.

"Being old does not make someone mature... People say I am too young to run for the seat but they should look at that as an advantage because I am younger, better, and fresher," he said.
