Renowned Kikuyu gospel musician Ben Githae has over the past week come under sharp criticism from netizens over his ‘Tano Tena’ hit that was adopted by Jubilee as its campaign song in the 2017 general election.
A section of netizens blamed Githae for the poor performance of the Jubilee government, arguing that his song played a critical role in the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
While citing the harsh economic times and increased foreign debt under the Jubilee administration, netizens used the ‘Tano Tena’ song to ridicule Jubilee supporters that voted for the current regime.
“This song by Githae was a curse for this country,” a netizen opined.
Speaking during an interview on Friday, Ben Githae noted that he has no regrets over his decision to compose the song.

Githae noted that the ‘Tano Tena’ was a praise song for the candidate he felt was the best at the moment, adding that four years later, he still holds the same view.
“I still support Uhuru to date and I still strongly believe in the lyrics of my song. Even with the backlash that I have received, I have no regrets,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Jubilee administration has come under sharp criticism from Kenyans over unfulfilled promises.
Some of the unfulfilled campaign promises include; new stadia, laptops for class one pupils, jobs for the youth among others.
