A section of leaders allied to Deputy President William Ruto have cautioned Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai against being used to perpetrate violence in the country.

Speaking in Nyeri on Tuesday, the leaders claimed that if the IG is not careful, the International Criminal Court will come for him over recent deaths in the country, including those witnessed in Murang’a recently.

“IG, the ICC is beckoning, you will answer for the deaths at Kenol and any other Kenyan that will die…Those misusing you now did the same to Ali before you and he ended up in ICC…Under your watch IG, people were poisoned in Kikuyu, people were evicted, all these are crimes against humanity,” Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wa said as quoted by Citizen.

Ichungwah to police: Stop teargasing people in church

According to Ichungwah, it is unlawful to teargas faithful in a church, adding that the IG and his officers should stop.

“The Public Order Act is not consistent with 2010 constitution…It is not legal, and we want to tell the IG that nowhere else in the world we have seen a church teargassed…Bwana IG you have no power to deny anyone permission to assemble,” he added.

Other leaders who were at the event including; Ndindi Nyoro and Rigathi Gachagua accused the police of being complicit in the Kenol chaos.
