US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will virtually tour Kenya starting April 27, 2021, in a bid to strengthen bilateral relations between Kenya and the US.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is set to conduct the first-ever virtual of Kenya from tomorrow, April 27, 2021.

He is expected to tour Kenya and Nigeria, meeting Presidents Uhuru Kenyatta and Muhammadu Buhari among other personnel.

White House reporter Jennifer Jacobs in a statement on Twitter, stated that Secretary Blinken is set to meet Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) alumni through an event called 'Ten Questions with Tony'.

"YALI alumni will have an opportunity to engage with the Secretary on a range of topics, including the role of youth in the future of Africa, economic development, democracy, and good governance, climate change, and health," the statement read in part.

The initiative has long been employed by the US government to develop economic opportunities and support innovativeness among youths in Africa.

Blinken's virtual trip to Kenya will also be a celebration of the 57-year Kenya-US bilateral relationship. 

He will meet with President Kenyatta and Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Awuor Omamo and discuss future relations and coordination between the two nations.

The visit comes three weeks after President Joe Biden telephoned President Kenyatta and the two leaders discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Biden highlighted the importance of a positive and progressive relationship between Kenya and the US.
