Motorists using Uhuru Highway in Nairobi will continue enduring long hours in traffic after the road agency closed a section of the busy highway.

Kenya Highway Authority (KeNHA) has extended the closure of a section of the busy Uhuru Highway for a further 21 days.

The closure will begin Friday, April 30 will go on till May 20th.

According to the Highways Authority, the extension of the closure is meant to allow the ongoing construction of the Nairobi Expressway along Mombasa Road.

In its statement, KENHA said it will be closing the section between Bunyala roundabout and the Nyayo Stadium roundabout.

“There will be traffic disruption along Uhuru Highway starting Friday, April 30, 2021, to Thursday, May 20th," a notice by KeNHA Director General Peter Mundinia read.

KeNHA has urged motorists to comply with traffic management plans and follow the direction of traffic marshals as well as road signs.

Motorists are kindly advised to use alternative routes. We apologise for the inconveniences that may be caused as we endeavour to provide an efficient, safe and reliable road network,” the notice added.
