Police have established new leads in the murder investigation of four friends who went missing in Kitengela.

Police have established multiple leads in while investigating the mysterious disappearance and death of four friends who went to have lunch in Kitengela.

Officers working the case are currently trying to identify two people believed to be a man and his girlfriend who could reveal the traces of the quartet before they went missing on April 19, 2021.

Reports also indicate that a rogue police officer has been linked with the kidnap and death of the group.

The officer is said to have aided the group in carrying out criminal activities as part of a bigger gang.

According to police reports, Brian Oduor alias Champe alongside Benjamin Imbai had pending cases before Mavoko and Kibera Law Courts.

They are both believed to have been masterminds of the criminal gang and had various run-ins with the law on multiple occasions.

An autopsy report conducted at the Murang'a County Referral Hospital on the body of Elijah Obuong indicated that he died of strangulation.

His body was found near Mukungai River on April 20 by sand harvesters and was recorded as an unidentified male. His family identified the body on April 29, 2021.

Imbai's body was also found on Thursday at General Kago Funeral Home in Thika.

Police are currently searching for Oduor and Jack Ochieng.

The families of Ochieng and Obuong have maintained that they had no criminal records.
