In a memo sent to staff, Royal Media Services Editorial Director Joe Ageyo announced the changes that affect over 7 senior journalists.

The Royal Media Services (RMS) has announced several changes in its radio new team following the death of Robin Njogu; who was the Managing Editor in charge of radio.

In a memo sent to staff, Royal Media Services Editorial Director Joe Ageyo announced that Mr. Young Muthomi has been appointed as the new Managing Editor- Radio, with effect from 1st May, 2021.

“Young brings on board, a wealth of talent and experience having managed the radio news operation for over 10 years, in addition to serving in various previous roles,” Ageyo’s memo read in part.

Additionally, Ageyo noted that veteran journalist Lincoln Njogu has been appointed to the position of Deputy Managing Editor. Under this role, Lincoln will be Young’s Principal Assistant, in charge of all correspondents, reporters, and other news desk operations.


Other RMS employees promoted in the latest changes include; Isaac Swila who has been appointed to the position of News Editor, Christine Ojiambo who has been promoted to the position of Senior News Anchor, and an additional role of News Producer.

Josphat Odipo has also been promoted to the position of Senior News Anchor/News Producer while Edwin Obuya, who is currently a Senior Reporter has been promoted to the position of Sub-Editor.

Further, Jacob Icia has been promoted to the position of Sub-Editor

The team is expected to reposition Royal Media’s radio station news to stay ahead of the competition and emerging global trends.
