A dormitory that accommodates hundreds of students has been destroyed in the blaze.

A dormitory was razed down by fire at Musingu High School barely three days after the phased reopening of schools in Kenya.

Kakamega South Sub-county police commander Joseph Chesire confirmed the incident adding that residents are battling the inferno.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established as police said the students were in class when the fire broke out at 11am.
