Seven teachers have been hospitalised after they were involved in an accident near Webuye, Bungoma County.
Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia on May 10, 2021, announced that the teachers were returning home from marking the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
"We wish them quick recovery and we shall be praying for them," Macharia stated.
The TSC CEO proceeded to commend teachers in the country for the high turnout to receive Covid-19 vaccines.
Macharia announced that 151,494 teachers have been vaccinated so far, which breaks down to 51 per cent male and 48.9 female.

She expressed delight at a majority of teachers aged 58 and above turning up for the vaccine jabs.
Macharia noted that the excellent feat had been achieved despite teachers having to move around during this period, either to administer, supervise or mark the 2020 KCSE and KCPE exams.
"Having concluded the marking exercise, I besiege all remaining teachers to take the jab," Machari stated.
She urged all teachers to utilise the opportunity presented to them by President Uhuru Kenyatta, after he directed that teachers get the jab regardless of age.
Macharia noted that in the course of the Covid-19 pandemic 37 secondary school teachers have lost their lives to the Covid-19 pandemic. 24 principals, 4 deputies and 10 classroom teachers.
"We do not want to continue loosing our teachers, they are very dear to us. So please, whenever you can, please take the jab," Macharia stated.
She noted that the commission has so far provided full medical insurance cover to all teachers on Covid-19 related ailments, adding that TSC is determined to ensure teachers lead healthy lives.
