Top KCSE Candidate Simiyu Robinson Wanjala has thanked his former school for preparing him for the exams.

Simiyu Robinson Wanjala has expressed his joy after emerging top in the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams released by Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha today, May 10, 2021.

Wanjala was named the best of the 2020 KCSE class after garnering 87.334 from Murang'a High School.

Speaking to Citizen TV via phone, Wanjala expressed gratitude to teachers and staff at his former school for the combined effort in preparing him and fellow candidates for the exams.

Following the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 academic calendar was forced to take a seven-month break, with the country fighting to curb further spreading of the deadly virus.

“The experience was tough actually but I thank the school because they ensured that we had the online lessons all through and even did exams.

"There were a number of issues in between especially during the holiday but I remained focused,” Wanjala stated.

He added that he wants to pursue a career in medicine.

CS Magoha congratulated the class of 2020 for braving the Covid-19 pandemic to post better results compared to their 2019 counterparts.
