The Kenya National Examination Council has dealt a blow to a section of parents after it announced that there will be no change of examination centres for this year’s KCPE and KCSE.
A number of parents had transferred their students from boarding to day schools near their homes due to the corona virus pandemic.
Other parents had moved their students from private to public schools to avoid fee expenses, while other transferred their kids from highly populated schools due to the pandemic.
Parents were hopeful that KNEC would consider the tough financial conditions brought about by the pandemic and re-open the examination centres transfer window.
However, according to KNEC, re-opening the transfer of examination centres may cause confusion considering that the national examinations are less than five months away.
KNEC further noted that allowing the transfers could negatively impact the examination calendar which has already been finalised.
KCPE, KCSE exam dates
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education early this month announced that KCSE and KCPE students would commence their exams in March 2021.
KCPE examinations are set to start on March 22, 2021 and end on March 24, 2021 while KCSE exams are scheduled to commence on March 25, 2021 and end on April 16, 2021.
