  • MP Moses  Kuria admitted to receiving an Sh100,000 bribe to vote in a particular manner during a past Parliamentary session.

Speaker Justin Muturi has suspended MP Ndindi Nyoro from the National Assembly for four consecutive sittings.

On Thursday, May 13, 2021, MP Nyoro claimed members were bribed without a substantive motion.

A motion for Nyoro’s suspension was proposed by Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe and seconded by Deputy Majority Whip Maoka Maore.

“I urge you to read the Hansard, and do not name a member in the plenary without a substantive motion, or you will be in violation of House standing orders,” Speaker Muturi said.

"The honourable Ndindi Nyoro will be suspended from the precincts of Parliament including his office for the period o four days including today, these are your standing orders," he added.

Speaker Muturi then asked Nyoro to make his way out of Parliament immediately and begin his four-day suspension.

During the session, Gatundu MP Moses Kuria and Nyoro claimed that Members were bribed which caused friction in the house as MPs claimed that their remarks painted a bad picture of the August House.

During an interview, Kuria admitted to receiving an Sh100,000 bribe to vote in a particular manner during a past Parliamentary session.

Speaking during an interview on Thursday, he claimed that MPs are usually bribed to vote a certain way especially when the government has an interest in the particular issue at hand.
