Officers on a night operation gunned down two armed criminals as they prepared to carry out attacks in Ukunda, Kwale County.

Police gunned down two armed notorious criminals on the morning of Friday, May 14, 2021, as they prepared to stage a robbery in Ukunda, Kwale County.

Officers on patrol, came across the two who were armed with all manner of weapons including knives, machetes and an imitation of a firearm.

DCI has revealed that ballistic experts are currently examining the firearm to determine whether it is capable of firing.

The officers also recovered assorted mobile phones, believed to have been stolen from victims of their criminal operations.

The two had been asked to submit themselves to the officers but defied the orders. DCI states that the duo is part of a criminal gang, behind the spate of robberies that have rocked Diani township and its environs in recent days.

Scenes of Crime personnel documented the scene, while bodies the duo, were moved to Kwale Sub-County hospital mortuary, pending identification.
