The ODM Party has accused Interior CS Fred Matiang'i of meddling in the Bonchari by-election set for May 18, 2021.

The ODM Party has called out Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i for allegedly meddling with the Bonchari by-elections slated for Tuesday, May 18, 2021.

Speaking during a meeting with party followers in Kisii County, Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna alleged that the CS is using police officers to intimidate ODM officials drumming up support for their candidate Pavel Oimeke.

"You have saw him sending police officers to the home of the governor, only to find Mzee Sam Ongeri having tea, and they said its an illegal meeting," Sifuna stated.

"My friend Fred Matiang'i, do not misuse your powers. When the state has given you powers, use them right.

"If you you are supporting your jubilee candidate, come and walk around," Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ongera stated.

This comes days after police officers raided the home of Kisii Governor James Ongwae and scuttled an alleged meeting that was ongoing.

Matiang'i has, however, denied involvement in local politics, with those allied to him accusing ODM of using the CS' name to win over the electorate.
