Five suspected armed robbers were gunned down on Tuesday along the Kakamega-Kisumu highway.

Police confirmed that the suspects had opened fire when confronted and asked to surrender.

A shoot-out occurred between the five suspected armed thugs and officers at Makhokho Ikolomani.

Pistols, balaclavas, phones and a police uniform were recovered from the gang. The incident caused traffic on the road as police cordoned off the crime scene to collect evidence.
