In a statement, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) stated that at around 10:20 pm on May 18, 2021, Governor Nyoro led a group of rowdy youth into the station, making it difficult for IEBC officials to carry on the process.

The commission moved to temporarily suspend the exercise until police officers restored normalcy.

During the commotion, IEBC secured the election materials as brought by the Returning Officers, while candidates and their representatives kept vigil until the exercise resumed.

"The commission regrets the developments as maintenance of law and order during elections is not its mandate," IEBC had stated.
