The Court of Appeal has elected Justice Daniel Musinga as its new president following the exit of Justice William Ouko who’s joined the Supreme Court as a judge.

Justice Musinga has also been picked as the Court of Appeal’s representative to the Judicial Service Commission.

Justice Musinga is a distinguished jurist who has served in several capacities in the Judiciary and delivered landmark rulings.

Justice Musinga was admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 1988.

In 2003, he was appointed as a member of the tribunal to investigate the conduct of suspended High Court judges.

Later that year, he was officially appointed a Judge of the High Court of Kenya and posted to Nakuru where he served until 2007.

In 2008, he was moved to Kisii where he served until 2010.

He was later appointed Judge of the Court of Appeal and has now been elected its president.

As the President of the Court of Appeal, he will be charged with the duty of overseeing the courts operations including forming benches to listen to different cases.

He has assumed office at a time when the government has lodged an appeal against the BBI ruling that was delivered by the High Court over a week ago.
