EACC Chairperson Wabukala explained that the EACC completed inquiries on allegations of illegal and unexplained wealth obtained by current and former Governors.

Four governors are being investigated by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

According to EACC's Chairperson Bishop Eliud Wabukula, the anti-graft agency is looking into the four Governors over the acquisition of a total of Ksh 11b in illegal assets.

Bishop Wabukula told the Senate Justice, Legal Affairs and Human Rights Committee the Commission has concluded inquiries on 6 high profile cases which include corruption offences involving nine 9 former and current Governors.

Among those named are Tharaka-nithi, Nairobi, Kiambu, Garissa, Samburu, Busia, Migori and Nyandarua former and current governors who have cases pending in court.

Wabukala explained that the EACC completed inquiries on allegations of illegal and unexplained wealth acquired by ex Governors Ferdinand Waititu, Mike Sonko, Evans Kidero and county boss Moses Lenolkulal who have cases pending in court.

The EACC also finished a probe into procurement irregularities at KEMSA pending review by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

“In the last 5 years, EACC has concluded 1000 investigations on corruption and related offences. Examples of high impact cases involved 9 former/current Governors, Principal Secretaries, Senators, MPs, Managing Directors of State Corporations among others,” said Bishop Wabukula.
