Uhuru Hits Out at Ruto’s Allies over Huduma Namba Claims

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday finally addressed claims that the State had contracted a foreign company to oversee the implementation of the Huduma Namba.

Speaking in Manyani after a Cabinet meeting, President Kenyatta termed those propagating the claims as ‘ignorant’.

According to the President, Huduma Namba was developed and is being handled by young Kenyan innovators.

"After watching and listening to certain individuals speaking a lot of total ignorance...talking I don't know about Germans coming to do Huduma Namba, I don't know which contract being signed, how many billions...these are the Germans you've been talking about (young Kenyan innovators)… You can meet them in person and ask them all the questions that you have,” President Kenyatta said.

Ruto’s allies claim State planning to use Huduma Namba to rig polls

Last month, a section of Deputy President William Ruto’s allies accused the government of hatching a plot to rig the 2022 election using the Huduma Namba.

Speaking in Kajiado, the leaders claimed the government had contracted a foreign company to oversee the Huduma Namba implementation exercise.

“We have heard that in this Huduma Namba they have brought foreigners to come help them steal, and we know it is not money only that they want to steal, they also want to steal our votes…,” Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika said.

On his part, Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro claimed that the foreign company have come to the country to start planning on how to steal the elections.
