In the spirit of the National Prayer Breakfast, Jubilee MP David Ole Sankok among others have called for national unity and forgiveness amongst political leaders.

Nominated Member of Parliament David ole Sankok, in the spirit of the National Prayer Day has prayed for President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto to renew their friendship, taking note of the struggles they underwent in their quest to clinch the presidency.

In an emotional message shared on May 27, 2021, the vocal Jubilee MP recalled the 2007 Post Election Violence and the cases at the International Criminal Court (ICC) that presented a tough huddle for President Kenyatta and DP Ruto's State House bid.

Sankok's sentiments were occasioned by the political tension that has been experienced in the country since the 2017 general elections and the March 9, 2018 handshake between the president and ODM Leader Raila Odinga.


According to the vocal MP, the handshake is the genesis of the rift that exists within the ruling Jubilee Party, creating disparities in ideologies between leaders allied to the President and those allied to the Deputy President.

"(God) Turn us away from all that doesn't please you. Bless our President, our Deputy President, Give them friendship and your powerful armour as they fight the challenges bedeviling our nation," the MP said in an emotional prayer shared online.

Sankok called for unity among political leaders in the country especially during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, rallying a united front in the fight against vices such as corruption and for the development of the nation as a whole.


His appeal was seconded  by Lurambi MP Titus Khamala whos stated that the National Prayer Day should mark the start of forgiveness among political leaders.

Khamala noted that the event should be sincere and not used as a platform to exhibit fake friendships.

"There must be some form of sincererity and not just a public show or some annual event where people come together, behave like angels and then like the devil the next day," Khamala stated.

President Kenyatta and DP Ruto also called for a national dialogue, to forster peace and a prosperous working relationship among leaders in the country going forward.
