  • According to Kuria, there are days when the DP (one of Kenya's richest men) runs out of cash and he intervenes by lending him money.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has acknowledged that his People’s Empowerment Party (PEP) received financial support from Deputy President William Ruto during the Juja by-election.

In an interview on Thursday night, Kuria noted that he enjoys a cordial relationship with DP, adding that they’ve always supported each other financially.

“…Yes I did receive financial support from the Deputy President for the Juja by-election, he is my friend, sometimes he goes broke and I give him money,” Moses Kuria said in part.

The statement elicited massive reactions, with netizens accusing Kuria of lying on national TV since DP Ruto is considered one of the richest men in the country at the moment.

During the same interview, Kuria defended his decision to go against Jubilee Party; the outfit that sponsored him to Parliament, stating that the party leader President Uhuru Kenyatta set precedent when he showed support for ODM’s Omar Boga in Msambweni.

He noted that senior members of the Jubilee Party like Maina Kamanda have in the past campaigned for rival candidates and were not punished by the party, therefore he should be accorded the same treatment.

“I took it from my Party leader…The moment Uhuru Kenyatta posed for those photos in Msambweni with Omar Boga and Hassan Joho; I knew that is the way to go, so I’m actually follow in the footsteps of my party leader.

“In Kibera, Maina Kamanda and all those people went to support the ODM candidate and there was nothing with it,” he said.
