Legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto are organising church coronations for the DP to counter the coronation of Speaker Justin Muturi and Elders' support of ODM Leader Raila Odinga.

Legislators allied to Deputy President William Ruto have revealed that they will organise church coronations for the DP and unveil him as Mount Kenya's preferred Presidential candidate.

The move by the DP's camp is a counter measure following the recent coronation of National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi by a section of elders as the Mt Kenya spokesperson, and a section of other elders supporting ODM Leader Raila Odinga.

Sunday Nation reported that allies of the DP have positioned point men in Uasin Gishu, Narok, Lamu, Meru, Kirinyaga, Tharaka Nithi, Nyandarua, Kiambu, Murang'a, Laikipia, Nairobi, Kajiado, Nakuru, and Embu, identifying churches that will be used for the DP's coronation.

"They have picked their kingpins from bushes and we will pick ours from the altar of God," Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika stated.

The date of the event is, however, yet to be revealed.

The event has been dubbed "Holy Spirit Coronation Drive". According to the publication, the DP will at the final stage be consecrated in a national prayer where he will line up his 2022 team, comprising his running mate, and 94 county coordinates, man and woman per county.

The DP's allies have accused the backers of President Uhuru Kenyatta of, "mandating a fake council of elders to coronate the heir apparent of President Kenyatta in a manner that reeks of witchcraft."

Murang'a Senator Irungu Kang'ata stated that allied of the deputy president in the Mt Kenya region are working to identify church venues that will be used to consolidate the DP as 2022's preferred presidential candidate for the GEMA communities.

"We are competing against opponents who oppose the church and do not have any known mainstream faith," he said.

"We are a God-fearing region and we will have to do things differently to avoid competing on the platform of darkness, by dedicating our candidate to God," he added.

Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau stated that churches in the region will organise themselves into one event to avert divisions.

"It is true that we are planning to unveil our candidate straight from the wings of the church. We are investing Dr. Ruto's candidacy in the blessings of God. The opponents that we are facing can only be tackled through prayer. Ours will only be to tour the country to ask for votes and God will convince our voters that our bet is His bet," Gitau was quoted as saying.

"Anyone who is claiming that he is the Kikuyu king is living in political caves, since we all know that our people are firmly behind Dr. Ruto, who has won their hearts to their political kingpin regardless of his tribe," Naivasha MP Jane Kihara said.
