In a tweet on Saturday morning, Havi warned advocates who had been shortlisted by IEBC and had either stolen or mismanaged public funds to withdraw.

Barely hours after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) picked 36 candidates to compete for the four commissioner positions that were previously advertised, LSK President Nelson Havi has warned advocates who have been shortlisted.

In a tweet on Saturday morning, Havi warned advocates who had been shortlisted and had either stolen or mismanaged public funds to withdraw.

"660 Kenyans applied to fill the vacancies of 4 commissioners of IEBC. 36 have been shortlisted for interview. Focus will be on the Advocates in the shortlist. If you have a dent, have stolen from members or mismanaged funds, withdraw. A memorandum is loading," the tweet read.

The Selection Panel led by the chairperson Elizabeth Muli picked the 36 candidates out of 700 who had expressed interest in the positions.

“While considering the applications, the selection panel observed that there were many qualified Kenyans who expressed interest in the position in the position of commissioner of the IEBC

“The youngest applicant was 23 years old and the eldest 73 years old,” Muli said the shortlisted candidates will to the next stage – interviews – which will run from July 7 and July 22.

“A psychometric test shall be administered on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at 11am at the KICC. Oral interviews, incorporating a case study shall be conducted between July 7 and 22 at the KICC,” the panel’s chairperson Elizabeth said in a statement.
