He further refuted allegations that President Uhuru Kenyatta urged principals of the National Super Alliance (NASA) to unite with a promise of endorsing one of them for presidency.

Wiper-Kenya leader Kalonzo Musyoka has stated that he would rather retire from politics that back the presidential bid of ODM leader Raila Odinga in the 2022 general elections.

He further refuted allegations that President Uhuru Kenyatta urged principals of the National Super Alliance (NASA) to unite with a promise of endorsing one of them for presidency.

Kalonzo maintained that his name will be on the ballot come 2022, noting that he will only be willing to compromise for a member of the newly formed One Kenya Alliance.

"It will be unthinkable to support Mr. Odinga for the third time. I will be the most stupid person to once again support his bid without a measure of reciprocity," Kalonzo stated.

The former Vice President did not rule out the possibility of working with the former premier in future, noting that he is ready to work with everyone in future if, "everything is put on the table."

"I'm open to working with all but tell me why I should support Mr. Odinga for the third time?" He posed.

"I don't see any person convincing me to support him. I'd rather go back to Tseikuru (his rural home) than support him again. At the age of 67, this is my moment. I must run. If I don't, when would I?" Kalonzo added.

Despite dismissing reports that President Kenyatta promised to back of the Nasa principals, the reports have caused mixed reactions, even prompting a response from Deputy President William Ruto.

The DP and his allies in a series of tweets accused the Head of State of killing the ruling Jubilee Party with a promise of supporting the opposition in next year's polls.
