Tamara Mbijiwe said her brother's phone is off and the car cannot be traced. The Ex KDF Commander reportedly went missing on Saturday, June 12, and his phone signal last traced to Thika, Kiambu County.

“He was driving a hired vehicle. We are yet to ascertain which car hire company had leased the vehicle to him,” Tamara stated.

“Mwenda had, earlier Saturday, trained a Nairobi-based church on basic security skills, and was to travel to our Meru rural home that evening,” she continued.

According to Tamara, the DCI has launched a search for the Ex-KDF commander who was on his way to Meru to visit his mother when he went missing.

Mbijiwe is a private security consultant and the founder of Eye On Security (Kenya) Limited and he served as a military officer before joining the private sector.

In 2017 he vied for the Meru gubernatorial office on an ODM ticket but backed out to support CS Peter Munya.
