"The suspect entered the Mpesa shop and unleashed a gun at the victim before taking the Ksh 9000 and left," Mr Mbatu said.

According to Mr. Mbatu, the Mpesa attendant followed the said police officer and alerted the locals who came to his rescue before he was arrested and taken to a police station.

"The suspect claimed he came from Embu East sub-county and claimed he was a police officer," Mr. Mbatu said.

The County commissioner mentioned that investigation had commenced to establish whether it's true the suspect was indeed a police officer and from Embu east.

Mr. Mbatu thanked the locals for helping nab the suspect while at the same time urging locals especially Mpesa attendants to ensure their doors are locked all the time.
