  • Speaking on Thursday, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua suggested that those defecting have been paid off.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei; a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto has dismissed claims that Jubilee leaders from the Kieleweke faction are being bribed to join Hustler Nation.

Speaking on Thursday during a panel interview, Senator Cherargei noted that the leaders were defecting due to their own conviction.

“Defections will always happen, politicians will always go where wananchi want…. There is no inducement, there is no force, there is no undue influence, there is no sweeteners… The people joining Hustler movement are joining the winning team and want to assist in transforming this country through bottom up approach,” he said.

Speaking during the same interview, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua appeared to suggest that the leaders had been paid off to ditch their parties in favour of Hustler Nation.

“Senator Cherargei don’t think that people defecting to your party believe in your party ideology, it is because either one they have been given a lot of money, which I believe is truth or two, its because they are afraid of their own political leaning,” Mutua opined.

Governor Mutua and Senator Cherargei made the remarks a day after Kiambu Woman Rep Gathoni wa Muchomba defected from Jubilee to Hustler Nation.

"I am aligning myself with the DP because that is where my people want me to be, " Wa Muchomba said about her move to the hustler bandwagon.
