A chopper belonging to the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) has crashed in Ol-Tepesi area, Kajiado County.

In a statement released on Thursday, KDF confirmed the crash, adding that rescue mission is ongoing.

According to KDF, the chopper was on a training mission.

"Today at 0900 hrs, an Mi 171e Airforce helicopter on a training mission crash landed at the Ol Tepesi area in Ngong, Kajiado County. Rescue missions are underway," KDF said.


According to KDF,  13 passengers were rescued and flown to Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi.

Unfortunately, reports indicate that 10 passengers in the flight succumbed to injuries sustained after the crash.

KDF has reached out to the families in accordance with their set protocols.
