The officers reacted fast and 'rescued' the woman who was found tied in her car near the Serena Beach Hotel before taking her home to Bamburi.

A grisly murder scene awaited the officers at the house where they found the body of Mr Rouwenhorst with his limbs tied with a rope and his mouth gagged.

At this point, Riziki was treated as a widow who had lost her husband in a case of murder having told the authorities that five men had forced their way into the home before attacking Mr Rouwenhorst and the caretaker.

The latest witness reports from their children have now placed the blame on Ms Cherono with police now treating her as a key suspect in the murder of her husband.

According to the statement from their children, Riziki Cherono opened the door to three strangers on the fateful night.

Coast Regional Police Commander Paul Ndambuki has revealed that Riziki Cherono was arrested on Thursday morning after she was linked to the murder. Ms Cherono will be arraigned in court later on Thursday 24th June 2021.

Murder cases instigated by the victim's family members are on the rise in Kenya with the prominent case in recent history being the murder of four family members in Karura, Kiambu by a member of their nuclear family.
