Deputy President William Ruto has ruled out the possibility of postponing the 2022 General Election.

Speaking during an interview on KTN, DP Ruto exuded confidence that Kenyans would elect new leadership next year.

"I am very sure there will be elections on the second Tuesday of August next year. That possibility to postpone elections does not exist," the DP affirmed.

The DP added, "The people who are talking about the postponement of the elections are talking the language of impunity and it has no space in Kenya, I know for sure that there will be an election next year."

The DP spoke on a variety of issues terming the recent Jubilee plan to merge with ODM as tragic.

"Jubilee's plan to merge with ODM is the most tragic decision I've ever heard.

"Jubilee has been destroyed by people who do not believe that the way to de-ethnicize our country is to have strong political parties," he stated.

The DP also criticized the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) being spearheaded by his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga, terming it 'unconstitutional.

"As things stand now, BBI is illegal, unconstitutional, null and void," he said.

The DP added, "I have a problem with some provisions of the BBI because it is taking us back to a mixed system of government.

"I have read the BBI cover to cover and there is nothing that will prevent people from contesting election results and swearing themselves in."
