The Teachers' Service Commission (TSC) on Tuesday announced 5000 vacancies in primary and secondary schools in the country.

In the advert that was placed in several Kenyan dailies, TSC announced the recruitment of 4000 secondary school teachers and 1000 primary school teachers.

According to TSC boss Nancy Macharia, the teachers will be employed on a permanent and pensionable basis.

Interested applicants are expected to submit their applications through the TSC online portal not later than July 12th, 2021.

TSC also announced 2,987 vacancies in primary schools and 927 in secondary schools with the aim of replacing teachers who have left the service either through retirement, resignation or death.

In 2019, TSC created an internship programme that recruited teachers below the age of 35. According to the commission, interns would be prioritised in the recruitment of teachers on a permanent basis.
