A senior Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer attached to the Karen police station has died.

Chief Inspector Anne Waiganjo is said to have complained of chest pains before she collapsed while attending a farewell party for SSP Henry M. Kiambata; who is retiring from the police service.

According to a police report, she was rushed to Nairobi hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

“Today 3rd July 2021 at around 1739hrs duty officer Capitol Hill received a report from SCCIO Langata, Mr Abdirashid Yakub, that one No.235389 CI (w) Ann Wanjiru Waiganjo the Officer in charge DCI Karen suddenly collapsed while at Baita Restaurant within Upper Hill…She was rushed to Nairobi Hospital and pronounced dead upon arrival,” a local daily quoted the police report.

The body was moved to the Nairobi Hospital morgue with reports indicating that it will be transferred to Kenyatta University Mortuary.

The deceased officer is a sister to Joshua Waiganjo; the man who was accused of masquerading as a police officer.
