  • Khaminwa on Saturday said two individuals who identified themselves as officers from the EACC went to his office and intimidated him.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has issued a statement following claims that their officers raided lawyer John Khaminwa’s office.

The commission insisted that the reports are misleading and unfounded.

"EACC wishes to notify the public that it did not conduct any operation yesterday and media reports suggesting that EACC visited the offices of John Khaminwa Senior Counsel are unfounded," said EACC.

Khaminwa on Saturday said two individuals who identified themselves as officers from the EACC went to his office and demanded to interview him.

While addressing the media over the same, the lawyer said the individuals went ahead to ask his assistant for money.

Khaminwa added that he believes the two officials wanted to intimidate him because of what he said at the court of appeal during the hearing of the Building Bridges Initiative case at the Court of Appeal.

“I got the impression that the two individuals came to intimidate me and take advantage of what I said in court on the matter of BBI,” said Khaminwa.

Reports that EACC officials had raided Khaminwa’s office caused a social media uproar on Saturday.
