Anxiety has engulfed Nakuru Central police station after one of the officers attached there was on Monday morning found dead inside his car at the station’s parking lot.

According to Nakuru East Deputy Sub County Police Commander Phantom Analo, the deceased John Ogweno was found at the parking lot by a colleague.

A police report cited by a local daily revealed that windows of the deceased’s vehicle had been broken, creating suspicion that the officer might have been attacked and murdered.

“It was reported by one officer that today at around 0700 hrs he was walking at the car park when he found the Motor vehicle reg NO. KBV 735 U Make Toyota Corolla having it’s driver’s window screen broken and the engine running. He peeped inside and saw the car owner NO. 104550 PC John Ogweno lying on the car seat with blood oozing from the nose.

“Police officers led by D/SCPC Nakuru East, SCCIO Nakuru East and OCS Nakuru visited the scene and confirmed that the officer had passed on,” a police report on the incident read in part.

The area police boss noted that investigations have begun and ruled out suicide, adding that it is highly likely that the officer was murdered.

While vowing to get to the root cause of the tragedy, Analo noted that the deceased was a diligent cop who had made name as a diligent officer who led the way in crime bursting in the area.

“Right now, we are trying to investigate and come to the root of the cause of the death because we cannot say it was suicide. We suspect someone has done it because the driver’s window had been splashed with a stone to access the constable in the vehicle…The constable has been a very reliable officer in crime bursting in the area, and we will find out whether the officer had any company as of yesterday,” Analo divulged.
