Deputy President William Ruto has welcomed Raila Odinga and Musalia Mudavadi to the hustler nation in a tweet sent out Thursday 8th July 2021.

Reacting to a video showing the two NASA leaders advocating for the empowerment of the low-class earners, DP Ruto noted that the conversation had changed.

"The conversation has changed. Gentlemen welcome to the Hustler nation-led economy conversation that's people-centred, Jobs/enterprise/hustle focused empowerment," the tweet by DP Ruto read.

He went on to urge former Premier Raila Odinga to drop the push for constitutional change which Ruto claimed was meant to create positions for leaders.

"Leave the leaders-centred constitution change to create positions, share power/meagre resources among elite. KARIBUNI." DP Ruto captioned the video.

The undated video shows ODM party leader Raila Odinga and ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi speaking at different venues.

" I refuse to believe that our people are lazy. Our people only opportunities and the support that is required. We must the business at the level of SMEs (Small Medium Enterprises)," Raila says.

This resonates with the 'bottom up' economic philosophy Deputy President William Ruto has been campaigning for.

Musalia Mudavadi, in a different venue, speaks on the current economic situation in the country.

"With the economic times, nawauliza nyinyi akina mama, how many times do you go to a salon?Mambo imekuwa magumu ata wengine wananyoa yote. Mmeefukuzwa salon na huyu Yattani anawafuata mpaka jikoni," Mudavadi opined on the rise in gas prices.

Deputy President William Ruto has banked his 2022 presidential run on a 'hustlers' platform where he is targeting low-income earners who form a huge part of the Kenyan voting population.

DP Ruto has also been advocating a 'bottom-up' approach to the country's economy where the government increases its direct spending on the common mwananchi.
