Inspector General of Police, Hillary Mutyambai has deployed a multi-agency team led by the General Service Unit (GSU) to contain the increasing inter-community clashes in Marsabit County.

In a statement, Mutyambai said the government is concerned with the conflict that has led to loss of lives, destruction of property and castle rustling in the area.

"The National Police Service has since deployed a Multi-Agency team of high specialized security officers led by the General Service Unit (GSU) with firm and uncompromising institutions to restore peace and order," said Mutyambai.

The IG called on residents of Marsabit to work with the multi-agency team and help them bring the perpetrators to book.

Mutyambai asked the people of Marsabit to explore peaceful ways of solving the conflicts that have caused unrest in the region.

"A stern warning goes to perpetrators of criminal activities perpetuating chaos in the county to either hand themselves in to the nearest Police Station or be prepared to face the wrath of the law. We shall not rest until the last criminal is apprehended," added the IG.

This comes a few days after it was reported that seven people have lost their lives following inter community conflicts in the County.
