The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) through its Chief Executive Officer Mercy Wambua has announced that it will be moving to court over the hunt for suspected killer cop Caroline Kangogo.

Veteran lawyer John Khaminwa, who has been tapped to represent Kangogo, noted that he’ll be moving to court seeking orders barring the police from arresting the officer if she opts to surrender.

In a message to Kangogo, lawyer Khaminwa urged her to surrender her firearm at any of the Khaminwa law firm branches in Nairobi, Mombasa or Malindi and present herself to the authorities.

LSK’s move comes one week after Kangogo went on the run, with reports indicating that an elite squad including the military has been formed to go after her.

Being a sharpshooter and a police insider, many fear that Kangogo may resist arrest leading to a shootout which may cause fatalities.

Meanwhile, her family has requested for forgiveness from families of the two men she’s suspected to have murdered.

Kangogo’s parents have also pleaded with her to surrender in a bid to prevent any further fatalities.

“Ningeambia tu sai ajisalimishe kwa police, pia yeye ni askari ambaye anajua sheria. Ni vizuri ajitoe na ajisalimishe kwa polisi, kwa wale familia mbili ambao walipoteza watoto wao tunasema poel kwa yale ilitokea. Sisi pia tuliskia kwa mshangao kupitia kwa redio,”Barnaba Kibor; Kangogo’s father said.

On her part, Kangogo’s mother was very emotional and at one point broke down as she wondered why her daughter decided to go on a killing spree.

“Ulifanya mbaya kuuwa watu, ata ungewewacha watu alafu ukuje kusema maneno uko nayo… Alikuwa mtoto yangu ya kwanza lakini sijui ni nini ndio akafanya maneno kama hayo…Nlishtuka sana, alikuwa mtoto napenda kabisa..Nimeshtuka kabisa, kuuwa watu…Kama alikuwa na maneno angekuwa nyumbani kuambia sisi,” she said
