Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who also doubles up as ODM Deputy Party Leader has approached Deputy President William Ruto severally and allegedly expressed interest in working with him.

Speaking during a recent interview, Gachagua rubbished claims that meetings between Ruto and Oparanya were meant to craft a potential alliance between ODM and Hustler Nation, adding that the latter used the meeting to craft his future political plans.

According to the vocal MP, Oparanya sought to join Hustler Nation due to pressure from Kakamega residents and the leaders from the region.

“It is good for me to clarify, there is a narrative being build that because Oparanya has met William Ruto and the following day went to meeting Raila Odinga, he was an emissary to create an alliance between the two, nothing can be further from the truth.

“The truth of the matter is that meeting between Ruto and Oparanya was the fourth meeting in a row… He approached us in 2019 and 20220 wanting to join Hustler Nation because of pressure from the people of Kakamega and the leaders there… Those meetings were held in private, he didn’t want them publicized at that time...Now he is ready to come us,” Rigathi said.

By press time, Oparanya was yet to respond to the claims. However, in a past presser, Oparanya indicated that he was meeting the DP in his capacity as Council of Governor's chair. He dismissed claims that he was in talks to join Hustler Nation.
