IEBC has declared UDA candidate John Wanjiku Njuguna the winner of the Kiambaa Constituency by-election.

Wanjiku was declared the Kiambaa MP-elect after securing 21, 773 votes against Jubilee candidate Kariri Njama's 21, 263.

Just like in Muguga, Jubilee and UDA camped in the constituency selling their agenda to the electorate.

Njama enjoyed the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta while Njuguna was backed by the Hustler Nation Brigade under the leadership of Deputy President William Ruto.

The Kiambaa mini-poll was largely peaceful although the voter turnout was low across the polling stations in the constituency.

The vote was called in favour of Wanjiku at half-past 10 after vote counting resumed.

Earlier on Friday morning, IEBC suspended vote tallying in Kiambaa after the Jubilee Candidate Kariri Njama contested the results that showed him trailing.

At the time Kariri had 21, 151 votes with UDA's Wanjiku leading with 21, 606 votes with 1 polling station yet to be counted.

UDA's slim win in Kiambaa follows hot on the heels of a loss in Muguga ward where the UDA candidate Kamau Thumbi lost by 27 votes to Jubilee's Joseph Githinji who garnered 4089 votes.
