  • The verification of Babu’s parody account has elicited massive reactions online with a section of Kenyans questioning how Twitter could make such a mistake.

Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has threatened to quit Twitter over the verification of a parody account in his name.

In a statement on Tuesday, Babu issued a demand to Twitter, noting that they should verify his legitimate account in the next few weeks, failure to which he’ll ditch the platform.

“If Twitter won’t verify my real account within the next few weeks then I’m sorry I will exit Twitter. Can’t/won’t settle for less at all @verified,” he tweeted.

Earlier, Babu Owino urged Kenyans to ignore the verified parody account, claiming that it had been created by persons interested in soiling his ‘good name’.

“Kenyans please ignore the FAKE ACCOUNT verified by twitter under the name of @BabuOwino1. It’s fake and the perpetrators want to use it to soil my otherwise good name,” he noted.

The verification of Babu’s parody account has elicited massive reactions online with a section of Kenyans questioning how Twitter could make such a mistake.

By press time, Twitter was yet to respond to Babu’s demand and the hundreds of questions from concerned netizens.

Meanwhile, for a user to be verified, you must have a credible Twitter account and meet requirements outlined by Twitter; one of which is the account should not be a parody.
