Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome has broken her silence following criticism by netizens over her struggle to explain the bottom up economic model she's been advocating for.
In an Interview on Monday on Citizen TV, Wahome had a difficult time explaining the model, despite being one of its chief proponents.
Wahome's struggle explaining the model elicited massive reactions online, making her one of the top trending subjects on Twitter Kenya.
ODM leaders like Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino mocked Wahome and other Hustler Nation leaders, claiming that they were not conversant with their main ideological standpoint.
“Hon. Kimani Ichungwa is one of the few people in tangatanga you can call smart. Him, Aaron Cheruyiot, Murkomen certainly, Ndii, hell even Gachagua. All these top brains in tangatanga have been unable to explain this bottom up thing. Maybe their bottom brains should give it a try,” he tweeted.

Reacting to the criticism and the debate around her interview on Citizen TV, Wahome put out a post on Facebook indicating that she was excited that Kenyans are finally debating the bottom-up approach.

She also used the statement to hit out at Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju for his recent remark trashing the bottom-up economics.
"I’m happy that we are all now talking about “Bottom up economy.” Even the clueless ruling party’s SG with diarrhea of the mouth. JP went to the dogs. Completely. What was that?" she said.
Speaking on Tuesday in Gatanga, Murang’a County, during a fete for local musicians, Tuju questioned the exact meaning of bottoms up, claiming that it could refer to a persons’ behind being taken up.
“Lakini hii maneno ya bottoms up economy… Labda Peter Kenneth ungetafsiri… What is it in Swahili?… Matako juu?” Tuju questioned.
