Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday used the Bible to explain his ' bottom-up' economic agenda.

Speaking at the St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Langata where he attended the Sunday service, DP Ruto compared the bottom-up economics to the sermon in Psalms 113:7-8.

The New International Version Bible details these two verses as saying; He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the needy from the ash heap, he seats them with princes, with the princes of his people.

"Neno la Mungu linatuambia Mungu humtoa mnyonge mavumbini," DP Ruto said as he explained his interpretation of the word.

He went on to ask those questioning the economic model to read the two verses which he claimed explained the economic philosophy.

This comes just a day after DP Ruto took to social media to outline his political agenda as he broke down the tenets of the bottom-up agenda.

He described the bottom-up agenda as one that focused on 'empowering our resource-poor farmers/herders to produce so as to free them from the slavery/indignity of relief food aid'.

Deputy President William ruto and his allies have been under increasing pressure from allies and foes alike to explain the 'bottom up' economic agenda.

In a TV interview on Tuesday, July 27th, MP Alice Wahome was at pains to explain the bottom-up economic approach.

"Eerr…by working from the bottom-down…from up to, eerr, you know…from top to bottom…” She stuttered when questioned on the meaning of bottom-up.
