The Kenya Editors Guild has announced dates for the 2022 Presidential debates.

In a statement on Monday, the guild noted that the presidential debate (first session) will take place on July 12, 2022, while the second session is scheduled for July 26, 2022.

According to the Editorial Guild, in between the two debates, there will be debates for presidential running mates.

The Presidential debate is a platform provided by local media for presidential candidates to share their agenda with the electorate.

Presidential debates were introduced in Kenya ahead of the 2013 General Election, and have been held for the 2013 and 2017 polls.

The 2013 debate brought together all the presidential contestants and can be said to e the most successful so far.

The 2017 debate was snubbed by some of the top contenders, creating a disappointment for Kenyans who were waiting for their top leaders to square it out.

For the 2017 presidential debate, only ODM Leader Raila Odinga showed up for the first session, while President Uhuru Kenyatta snubbed it.
