Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has threatened to sue blogger Dennis Itumbi over his recent tweets that he claims are defamatory.

In a series of tweets, Itumbi used the phrases “the Ruaraka land thief” and “the Ruaraka thief”, which CS Matiang’i has interpreted to mean him.

Through his lawyers, Matiang'i demanded that Itumbi retracts all the defamatory tweets and issues an unconditional apology, failure to which he’ll pursue legal actions.

He gave Itumbi until Friday, August 13, 2021 to comply with the demand letter.

"Our client further demands an unconditional apology for the defamatory statements published via your verified Twitter account in a manner to be approved by our client.

"We are further instructed to demand as we hereby do your immediate admission of liability whereupon our client shall engage you on the quantum of damages and any other retribution for your defamatory publications,” the letter read in part.

Reacting to the demand letter, Itumbi promised to issue a conclusive response in the next 24 hours.

“CS Fred Matiang’i has written to me, threatening to sue me for describing him for what he is - Ruaraka Thief. I will respond to this letter tomorrow… I like that finally, i have the chance to prove that he is a thief,” he posted on Facebook.
