Former KFCB CEO Dr Ezekiel Mutua has come under criticism over his latest tweet defending his clean content campaign while serving at the board.

In a tweet on Thursday, Mutua noted that the campaign on clean content was not a personal attack on anyone, but a move to build Kenya’s moral foundation.

“The campaign against dirty content is not a job or a personal matter. It's not us vs them. It's a collective effort to shape societal norms and values through art and entertainment. Our future depends on the moral foundation we build today through our conversations and stories,” he tweeted.

During his tenure at KFCB, Dr Mutua was big on advocating for clean content, a campaign that saw him earn the titles “Deputy Jesus” and “Moral Cop”.

On several occasions, he clashed with artists and other creative who he accused of publishing content that was not in line with the ‘clean content campaign’.

Some of the artists Dr Mutua has clashed with include; Eric Omondi, Bahati and comedian Mulamwah among others.

The altercation with artists and claims of being involved in corrupt practices are some of the reasons believed to have caused his ouster.

Last week, Mutua was sent on terminal leave, a move he has vowed to challenge in court.
