  • Senator Linturi is alleged to have entered a couple’s hotel room when the husband was out and reportedly attempted to rape the man's wife.

Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has moved to court seeking to block the police from arresting and prosecuting him over an alleged attempted rape case.

In his court papers, Linturi claims that he has received a letter belonging to the DCI which indicates that he’s been accused of attempted rape.

The Senator, however, argues that he has never been informed of the alleged criminal offence and wants the court to block his arrest and prosecution.

Senator Linturi is alleged to have entered a couple’s hotel room when the husband was out and reportedly attempted to rape the wife.

According to police reports, the incident happened on January 29, 2021, at Maiyan Villas Resort Nanyuki.

According to the complainant, she was in her room on that particular night and did not lock the door since the husband was still out. At around 3am, the door was allegedly unlocked and a man came inside.

She further alleges that since the lights were off, she assumed the man was I husband, adding that he entered the bed and started and started touching her.

The complainant further noted that the man who entered the room did not utter any word. Later, they fell asleep, only for his husband to come back.

“…Thirty minutes later she heard a knock on the door and went to open the door only to find her husband standing at the door prompting her to switch on the lights since she was confused who was in her bed whom she thought was her husband,” the lady’s statement was quoted by a local daily.

It is at this point that the man on the bed was allegedly identified as Senator Linturi. Reports indicate that the Senator was also a guest at the resort and had been booked to the adjacent villa, creating speculation that he may have confused his room with that of the couple.

In her case, the complainant further alleged that Senator Linturi offered to settle the matter out of court and gave them Sh200,000 cash and a cheque of Sh800,000. However, the senator reportedly filed a case with the police accusing the couple of extortion.

Reacting to Linturi’s accusation, the couple decided to file an attempted complaint against the senator. It is on the above premise that the Senator wants the court to block the police from arresting and prosecuting him.
